Has used the same pair of Distance Carbon Z poles for three years in all kinds of terrain at about 160 lb, including the JMT, and calls them the best poles they have used, as long as you pull a pole out quickly when it starts to bend between rocks.
Their BD Carbon Z poles feel like feathers and are fantastic for running, though they take their heavier Cascade poles when going deep into the middle of nowhere.
Likes their Distance Carbon Z poles for most of the year, but the wrist strap's limited adjustment won't fit cold-weather gloves, so they are not a good winter option.
Bought BD Carbon Z poles in December 2017 and had already broken two, once wedged in a boardwalk and once in a tree root; Black Diamond replaced each one, which is the only reason they still use them.
Has used the BD Carbon Z for a couple of years; on a heavy slip the pole saved them and lost a tip but did not snap, and they like not having to adjust fixed-length poles.
Did a 2018 PCT thru-hike with the Carbon Z poles; their only complaint was that they are not adjustable, which sometimes made pitching their shelter challenging.
Has enjoyed their BD Carbon Z poles for over a year and likes the fixed length and the light weight.
Uses a single BD Carbon Z because it packs down so small; it usually sits on their pack, so they wanted the lowest-profile pole.
Broke the tips off two pairs of Distance Carbon Z poles while backpacking; Black Diamond replaced both under warranty, but they switched to the sturdier Alpine Carbon Cork.
Broke a Distance Carbon Z pole and Black Diamond would not sell a single replacement pole, only offering a 40% discount on a new pair.
Has bent aluminum poles and snapped carbon ones but would still go carbon; they have older BD Distance Carbon Z poles and love them.
Their aluminum BD Distance Z broke twice on the PCT, but they own a pair of BD Distance Carbon Z for ultra running and think they work great.
Broke the top section of a BD Distance Carbon Z during a slip and could not find a replacement section, but really likes the Carbon Z poles, 287 g for the pair at 120 cm.
Uses the Distance Carbon Z poles and loves them; over 300 miles they have handled tough bushwhacks, scrambles and stream crossings.
